Can't wait for MWSF to get some more details from Steve! Between this, the iPhone, an iTablet and the new widescreen video iPod there will be plenty for him to reveal - along with our iLife 07 and Leopard previews as well. ;)

i agree. can't wait til January! hopefully i'll have some money saved up for one of those things

I thought Yonah and Merom are basically the same cost-wise. That's why everyone thinks including merom in new systems won't raise the price of those systems. I could be wrong.

They will be - at least initially - but Intel will undoubtedly lower prices on the Yonah chips shortly, making a cheaper Yonah-based Mini feasible.

I've had no trouble with my phone. I'd recommend it to anyone. But CR will have a credibility issue if it backs down. If I were CR I'd not back down either.

Once again, Sandy Bridge will smoke the Llano CPU. The amount of applications that currently support OpenCL are slim to none. You can keep using your theoretical AMD video to somehow prove something but the fact remains: Sandy Bridge's CPU will outperform AMD's Llano in EVERY application that isn't supported for OpenCL, and it will outperform it in EVERY application that does have OpenCL support if you have a discrete GPU. End of story. Saying that Sandy Bridge is a 'bad purchase' is laughable at best when we haven't even seen any hard benchmarks, we've seen a video from AMD's own YouTube channel. What the hell do you expect them to upload? Them getting destroyed by Intel like they do in every other test that has been done since 2006?

I'd rather have a CPU that is a bit slower for non-OpenCL tasks, than a computer that is faster at that but is unusable for other things because it doesn't have OpenCL.

No your missing my first point. Sharing in my mind in this context is the listening but not the distribution of music. Synching is the distribution.

Hence why i was saying my method would allow you to share your library's but not sync them to more than one pod thus eliminating the piracy factor.

We are obviously talking about different things

I guess so. edit: but the original story mentions wireless purchasing. That brings us back to my point(s) as to why this is not likely. end edit

But do you really think that being able to share with one iPod is worth the costs? I already argued that point. If that's the only unique new feature - no go. Even if this came from a more reputable source, I still say there's NO WAY this passes the smell test.

The only way this would do anything for anyone is to drive sales of "shared" songs one pod to the other. Your friend lets you listen, you go home and buy (or buy on your iPod wirelessly but that brings me back to my original point doesn't it?) Word of mouth works just as well if not better and doesn't take away sales from other products, add to the cost of the unit, drain my battery and make Apple look like it's playing catch up.

Im on DP 2 Update 3. This un-installation process applies to all external apps, not just MAS apps. No code, no change required. :)

I just tried it myself, it works with all apps, this is great

I use this same bag. Did you pick it up at an Army surplus store? That's where I got mine.

Please quantify that. Homeopathy might make you feel better about your cold, but if you're persuaded to rely on it rather than chemotherapy to cure your cancer, you'll be in for a shock.

Lots of little good placebo outcomes outweighed by pretty serious consequences I'd bet.

Hang about for a moment. I think you have struck on something brilliant.

We let them trust God to cure them, from a disease He has allowed them to acquire, and there will be less of 'them', in the long run.

I like this line of thinking. Mother Nature would be amused.

What TIME are the updates on Tuesdays usually made? EST? PST?

Also, can we be certain that the update is tomorrow? Wouldn't this be too soon for them to update? It seems they've given almost no time for the resellers-then again, does apple usually make suprise announcements, completely out of the blue like this?

Someone with more experience please clarify.

good point, he doesn't have an ipad he is just trolling.

people don't understand that if 1,000 ipads have a problem with backlight bleeding, thats still only .01% of ipad 2s Sold.

And apple will replace any ipad with backlight bleeding

I have an original iPad. It has had backlight bleeding since the day I received it. Several months ago I brought it to an Apple Store Genius Bar and they told me it was normal and not something for which they would issue a replacement. Guess they lied to me. Oh well...

    Digitimes?

iBook G5 and PowerBook G5 Digitimes?

    Yah right.

Sorry but I've had it with new iPod rumours. They'll come when they come and they won't be as revolutionary as we'd thought.

    Massively fed up now.
Im with you Chundles. Go ahead and throw in the iPhone rumors with that too...

I really wish Nintendo had thought harder about that name.

Then again I should be thankful they didn't call it the Puu.

    :)

    (Sorry).
    Made me giggle;)

My guess would be too much cost for such a small market. There's not a lot of 1080p content out there and even less 1080p displays. For a first gen device, I think 720p would be good enough. Maybe even 480p if it's cheap enough.

Although, in the end it'll probably depend on bandwidth limitations. They never said what protocol they'll be using. Some are assuming 802.11n, but that would limit them to the newest Intel Macs with a firmware upgrade.

True, but two things with that. First, 1080p is expanding rapidly, and it would seem unApple to not go all out with supporting an emerging standard.

Second, didn't iTV have an ethernet jack? If it was wired, they could stream whatever they wanted at almost any res if you had a fast enough network.

Maybe it would limit or upconvert if you were wireless only.
