This week in 1908, 1945

Every weekend JOBC goes back in time to the last year the Cubs won the pennant and the World Series.

This week in 1908, oil is discovered in the Middle East for the first time, and the 1907 Championship flag is raised at West Side Grounds--and it gets stuck half way up the pole.

This week in 1945, the final battle of World War II is fought in Slovenia, and the Cubs get swept in New York to drop their record under .500. They are 7 1/2 games out of first.
